Evan Harter established our company in 1927 as a high quality resource for a range of mid-West companies who lacked expertise in the manufacture of seating. After years during which Harter sharpened its competence in the design, engineering and manufacture of chairs, Harter made the decision to market a "posture back secretarial chair" under its own name.

This one product provided the springboard to development of a business that flourished through the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. During this time, Harter developed a reputation for producing precision built, durable and aesthetically pleasing chairs that appealed to both end users and the architectural & design community.
